Cost Effective Natural Beauty Treatment
November 28th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedThere are so many companies in the market today all vigorously trying to market their products as the best wrinkle cream. Sometimes it sets me to think are these best anti wrinkle creams or best creams for producing wrinkles. However, these creams are being sold at sky rocketing prices as there is a lot of demand for them
It is important to everyone to look their best. And most of us would love a product that would make our skin glow. With so many models on tv, being wrinkle free is valued in our society. But not everyone can afford a high price tag to achieve that perfect look.
The companies claim that the best wrinkle creams include ingredients made from aloe vera, cucumber and other natural ingredients, but is it actually true? Actually most of these lotions contain cream. Does anyone ever stop to consider if putting these store bought creams on their face are actually harmful? Also, consideration should be given that these creams may not even be worth the price.
Although these creams are usually good for the skin, they can cause allergy break outs. Sometimes users with more tender, sensitive skin may break out into a rash. A sample on the wrist may be helpful, but if it does cause a rash, then the whole bottle can not be used.
Having said all this, I think I should now advertise my own and very own “Best Wrinkle Cream” a cost effective one and very good. Don’t we all buy milk daily? Are we not conscitious of our weight and so strain off the cream from the milk. Hold on do not throw that cream. Put it to good use
Now here is a little beauty secret from the kitchen. First take the cream off the milk, and go to your spice cabinet for a little tumeric. Add these two together and apply it to your hands and face. You may also apply it on your legs. Leave it there for a while and then gently wipe it away with a tissue. Let the cream remain on your face for an hour or so and when you wipe it away you will be amazed at how your face glows.
You can also use this cream in other ways. By mixing the cream with lemon juice, you can create another concoction. Repeat the procedure as given above and see the effects. Turmeric and lime can both be used to treat breakouts. The cream is a good, natural moisturizer Thick yogurt can also be substituted for the cream if you do not have access to cream. Some ways the cream can be used are cream alone, cream with tumeric, or cream with lemon juice.
Also, you can scrub your face with half of a lemon dipped in tumeric. Put a drop of honey and cream on it as well and use the lemon to exfoliate. You can do this before applying MY BEST WRINKLE CREAM . You can scrub your face, hands and it is especially effective on the elbows and neck. The skin of the lime helps exfoliate the dead skin off of you. The best part about using the skin care regimen is the cost effectiveness
Exfoliators: Who Needs Them?
November 22nd, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedExfoliating should be a consistent part of your skin care routine, if you want to get the best results from your skin care products and moisturizers. Healthier, smoother looking skin will help keep you looking younger than your age. That may not be such a good idea if you’re fifteen, but for those of us who are over 30 or 35, well…
Frequently referred to as scrubs, exfoliators are made to lift and remove dull, dry or dead skin cells. They are comprised of sugars, salts, dried fruits, nuts, grasses, flowers and grains (wheat, corn or oats). They may be roughly ground for use on the body and very finely ground for use on the face and you can usually find one or more in creams, oils, lotions and compressed (bar) or liquid soaps.
Why Do I Need an Exfoliator?
Exfoliators are needed because every 25 days, your skin renews itself and without an exfoliator, any un-removed dead cells can accumulate and result in white heads or hair bumps. If either becomes infected, you have the beginning stage of acne, particularly on your shoulders or back where the skin is dryer. The body requires larger scrubbing particles, which won’t harm or scratch the skin unless used with more than usual pressure.
If you want your skin to look polished and if you want the natural oils that your skin produces to surface, then you need to exfoliate. That’s the best way to remove dead skin cells and help your skin stay smooth and soft. Men get an exfoliating effect from shaving however the top of their faces would get a positive result from a weekly facial scrub.
What do they do?
The scrubbing granules are much smaller for the face, so they won’t irritate or enlarge the pores. When exfoliators are used properly, the tiny granules polish the skin by lifting and removing the dead skin cells that prevent natural oils from surfacing. When your natural oils are blocked from the surface, you get clogged pores which can develop into white heads and if the pore becomesinfected with bacteria it can develop into acne, particularly on your back or shoulders where your skin is dryer.
How do I use Facial Exfoliators?
If your skin type is combination, a lotion exfoliator will work best; for dry skin, cream based products are more effective; if you have sensitive skin, look for a baking soda based scrub, they’re more gentle and for those with oily skin, gel based products work best for you. While your face is still wet, place a teaspoon of your exfoliator on your wet face cloth.
Gently scrub in a circular motion; all over your face and throat for about 30 seconds. Rinse your cloth thoroughly, and use it to rinse/wipe away the exfoliating grains. Use a clean towel to pat your face dry and then complete with the application of your toner, eye treatment and your moisturizers.
Women often believe that scrubbing longer or more often than recommended will result in better looking skin; it doesn’t and it could make your skin extremely dry. Companies formulate their products to respond to the recommended time that will give the best resultsExfoliator directions usually recommend a twice weekly use, so if you follow the directions, you’ll enjoy the benefits of your home facial.
What Does Coffee Have To Do With Skin Care?
November 22nd, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedWhile coffee and skin care might seem like a strange combination, you may be surprised to learn that in 2006, there were more than one hundred forty products on the US market. That’s up from only twenty-one products three years previously. Coffee got a bad reputation in the twentieth century, with the FDA unsure whether it was beneficial or harmful. Now that we’re moving into the twenty-first century, we’re finding out more and more about the beneficial effects of coffee. That’s showing up extremely well in the skin care industry.
Caffeine and coffee are primarily used in skin creams and lotions because of their firming and tightening abilities, as well as their antioxidant properties. Applying caffeine to the skin is effective in three ways. It acts as a diuretic, a vasoconstrictor, and an antioxidant. Among other manufacturers, products from L’Oreal, Neutrogena and Avon have all included caffeine.
Caffeine has been part of cellulite reduction products for years. That’s because it’s quite clear that caffeine has the ability to dehydrate fat cells, producing a smoother, cleaner appearing surface. The end result is more attractive legs, arms, and any other area where cellulite appears.
Caffeine’s ability to constrict small veins also means that it’s a favored ingredient when it comes to gels meant to reduce puffiness and dark circles near the eyes. It’s also used for tightening skin in this area. It’s a good idea to remember that no cream, gel or lotion can give permanent results. However, caffeine containing products can create a noticeable improvement for a few hours.
Now, the explosion of coffee use in skin products means that you’ll find it in fragrances, face creams and body scrubs. Lots of products not only smell like coffee, but also have ground coffee in them as an exfoliant. Some manufacturers even suggest that absorbing caffeine through your skin could produce some of the same alertness effects that drinking a cup of coffee does.
Dermatologists say otherwise, however. That’s because none of these skin care products contain a high enough concentration of caffeine to give you the kind of jolt you’d get from drinking coffee. Skin absorption also happens quite slowly, making it questionable whether you’d get enough penetration from the caffeine to enhance alertness at all. On the other hand, the smell of coffee might be enough to stimulate feelings of alertness, just because we associate coffee with a burst of energy.
There have been a few promising studies using mice which suggest that coffee’s caffeine can also be used to kill off cancer cells in the skin. At the moment, these results look promising, but can’t yet be translated to human. Since caffeine has been shown to have some sun blocking effects, you’ll also find it as an ingredient in sunscreens.
There are even a few people out there who say there’s no need to spend a lot on skin care products when you can get the benefits of coffee at home. According to them, making your own brewed coffee soaps and ground coffee body scrubs is just as good, if not better. There are recipes out there, for those who feel like giving it a try.
How A Dermatologist Can Help With Acne
November 19th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedWhile a mild case of acne isn’t necessarily a serious problem, it’s still a good idea to see a dermatologist. They can give you helpful information about what could be causing your acne as well as the best treatments.
Plus, there is another skin condition called keratosis pilaris that is sometimes mistaken for acne and a dermatologist can tell you if that is what you’re dealing with, saving you the time and hassles of using the wrong treatment.
It’s a good idea to prepare for your visit with the dermatologist by making notes about your acne - as much as possible. They will ask you about your background - things like how long you’ve had acne, how you’ve treated it and what form it has taken (lesions, whiteheads, blackheads, etc.) They might also ask if there is a history of acne problems in your family.
Be sure to tell the doctor if you are allergic to any medications. Females might be asked about their menstrual cycle and males might need to tell the doctor how often they shave.
You might be given a choice of treatments so it helps to know a little about the options before you make your choice.
Antibiotics are one treatment - they’re used to kill the bacteria that leads to acne. They can be taken orally or as a lotion or ointment that gets applied directly to the skin. In severe cases, it may be necessary to use both forms.
Topical treatments include things like benzoyl peroxide and retinoic acid. They usually come in the form of a gel and can sometimes cause redness and dry skin.
In more severe cases of acne, the dermatologist may recommend a physical treatment. This could include removal of whiteheads and blackheads and possibly drainage of cysts.
Whatever type of treatment you end up choosing, it’s critical that you follow the doctor’s directions. Take the recommended dosage - no more or no less. And even if your acne clears up, you need to continue to take the medication for as long as the doctor tells you to or the acne may reappear.
Some of the questions you should keep in mind to ask the doctor include:
- What kind of treatment would work best for my acne? - How long will it take before I see results? - What is the best way to care for my skin? - What can I do to prevent scarring? - Is it okay for me to use makeup? - Does this treatment have any side effects? - How long will I need to take this medication?
As acne treatments can go on for some time, make sure you ask any questions you have each time to see your doctor. Being as informed as possible will make your treatment much easier to deal with.
Why Don’t I Have Clear Skin?
November 19th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedKnowledge is one of the most favorite weapons in the war against acne; knowing the main causes of acne, makes it easier to decide how to combat it. During the teen years are when hormone levels increase along with androgen in both males and females. Over 85% of teens have to cope with this annoying problem.
The largest amount of acne occurs on the back, upper chest, and unfortunately on the face. This occurs because the sebaceous glands are now actively manufacturing sebum. We can’t eliminate the sebum, because the body needs it for the hair follicles. Washing the excess oil off using soap and water, or alcohol eliminates the problem. Except the acne could form blackheads.
The problem gets increasingly worse when the pores close, because they have become trapped from the excess sebum. Then whiteheads can form from increasing pressure and may burst. Now the bacteria are on the outside, on your face, for instance and it gets spread around. The bacteria create pus and inflammation, which causes acne.
So, have you ever been curious how much stress can affect your acne? We can’t completely get rid of stress, so it would be great to know this. The body can fight off the bacteria that cause acne effectively. But, stress does weaken the immune system which makes it harder to fight off the acne causing bacteria. It’s not considered a major factor though.
People have inquired about the effect illegal drugs have on acne. This is one variable that you shouldn’t have to consider. You should give up the drugs. If you choose not to, then you are going to have more problems than acne. It was stated by a dermatologist, “That anabolic steroids, barbiturates, and tetracycline can be a major contributor to acne.
Is genetics an area of concern in the acne arena? It may have an effect, but it hasn’t been proven by concrete drug studies yet. But, acne can be inherited. And, that’s partly due to life in the home.
This is a question I get all the time, and everyone is always amazed at my answer. It’s actually a more minor cause. Certain foods that are greasy, don’t translate into increased oil in the skin. And, any food that tends to increase the production of sebum (oil) or certain hormones will have an effect. But, there wasn’t any study that suggests that the common culprits-soft drinks, chocolate and greasy cheeseburgers-play a large role in producing acne.
Sebum (oil) and hormones are the two major factors that really cause acne. All the products out there work on the principle of controlling the sebum and keeping the pores unclogged. During the teen years, there is more activity with the hormones which in turn cause the sebaceous glands to secrete more oil. When this mixes deep in the pores with bacteria and the pores become clogged, the result is acne.
